Which Octopus tariff is right for you?

Eight quick questions. The quiz gives you a sensible shortlist, not a quote. Check live postcode rates and eligibility before choosing.

Reviewed 9 June 2026

This page reflects the current shape of Octopus tariffs: Go as the simple 00:30 to 05:30 EV route, Intelligent Go as 23:30 to 05:30 plus eligible smart charging, three Cosy Hours windows for heat-pump homes, Tracker and Agile as market-linked choices, standard Flux as the manual solar-and-battery option and Intelligent Flux as a separate automated supported-battery route that can be paused.

Quick answers before you use the quiz

Is this a quote?

No. It is a shortlist tool. Your final check still needs live postcode rates, standing charges, export pairing and eligibility on the relevant tariff page.

Why does the smart meter question come first?

Most smart tariffs need a compatible smart meter and half-hourly readings. If that is not working, a simpler tariff may be the safer starting point.

When should you ignore the result?

If you have an EV, heat pump, solar or battery setup with unusual routines, compare the full home first rather than following the top match blindly.

The quiz deliberately avoids hard-coded rates. Octopus currently asks readers to check prices by postcode, Go and Cosy are shown as fixed offers, smart-import terms still require compatible smart meters and half-hourly readings, and Citizens Advice says estimated bills or missing automatic readings should be checked before relying on a smart-tariff result.
