Octopus tools for checking the numbers before you switch
Use these tools as a starting point, not a quote. Octopus prices and eligibility can vary by postcode, meter setup, car or charger compatibility and the tariff version available when you check.
Reviewed 1 June 2026. The live-rate tools still need your postcode before you rely on the result.

How to use the tools sensibly
- Start with the broad bill check. Use the bill calculator when you know annual kWh and want a rough Flexible, electricity-only or smart-tariff planning figure.
- Use the EV calculator for charging assumptions. Include public-charging share, non-EV household use and realistic cheap-window use before treating an EV tariff as cheaper.
- Check live rates before acting. Static examples age quickly, so use the postcode comparison or the relevant Octopus tariff page before switching.
- Sense-check eligibility. Smart tariffs often depend on smart-meter data, compatible cars, chargers, batteries or heating setup.
