Bill calculator
Estimate your Octopus bill with live postcode rates
Use annual kWh from a recent bill, add your postcode and compare planning estimates for the main Octopus tariffs. This is not a quote, but it is a useful way to see whether a tariff deserves a closer look.
Last reviewed 23 June 2026. Rates are fetched from the Octopus API when you search and include VAT.
Your annual use
Use your bill or annual statement rather than a monthly payment amount. The default 2,500 kWh mirrors Ofgem's July 2026 medium typical electricity-use basis, not your home.
Set this to 0 for an all-electric home. The default 9,500 kWh mirrors Ofgem's July 2026 medium typical gas-use basis.
This mainly affects Go and Intelligent Go. Do not assume all EV or battery use lands off-peak, and treat manual boosts or failed smart schedules as peak-rate risks.
Cosy has a higher peak period, so heat-pump schedules and household routines matter.
Postcode rates
Start with your postcode
The calculator needs your electricity region before it can fetch current unit rates and standing charges. Static national examples can be misleading because Octopus prices vary by postcode.
Use kWh, not direct debit
Monthly payments can include credit, debt or seasonal smoothing. Annual kWh gives the calculator a cleaner starting point, especially while Ofgem's typical-use benchmark is changing.
Check fit before switching
Smart tariffs can depend on working half-hourly readings, compatible devices, export choices and whether your routine can move load. The calculator cannot see exit fees, credit balances or tariff terms in your account.
